Weather:

It will be a wet start to the morning but conditions should clear up this afternoon, clearing the way for some sunshine. Tonight will be significantly cooler than it has been, dipping to a low of 14C. Rain is back in the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Top News Stories:

  • The wet weather made for some slick roads this morning, causing a number of crashes on roads across the GTA. Environment Canada is investigating whether a tornado hit Grand Bend Sunday night as the area has suffered major storm damage.
  • One woman believed to be in her twenties was killed this morning after she was struck and trapped by a Brampton transit bus. The area of Finch and Humberline will likely be closed throughout the morning as police investigate.
  • Police are holding a news conference at 10:30 a.m. to announce an arrest in a child pornography investigation. They believe there may be more victims.
  • Muslims are marking the end of Ramadan with the festival of Eid today. More than 15,000 Muslims are expected to celebrate Eid at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre this morning.

Traffic Alert

Streetcar track work will shut down the intersection of Spadina and Dundas, starting at 10 a.m. Monday and won’t reopen until August 11. Dundas will be closed to traffic between Bathurst and University. Spadina will be closed between Queen and College. Pedestrians will have full access through the area, and businesses will remain open.
