Provincial Police say they have recovered the body of a 28-year-old Halton Hills woman who went missing while canoeing on a lake north of Peterborough almost two weeks ago.

Police said they found the body of Angel Villeneuve-Steadman in Pigeon Lake, south of Bobcaygeon, on Saturday morning at 10:45 a.m.

Villeneuve-Steadman was in a canoe with two men on the evening of April 3 when they ended up in the water. Police said they were called to search for them at 7:30 p.m. that night.

One of the men managed to swim to safety, the body of the other man was located on April 4.

None of the canoeists were believed to be wearing life jackets.
