Two people – including an eight-year-old boy – have been transported to hospital after being struck by a vehicle while inside a bus shelter in Vaughan Friday night.

According to police, the pair was at Dufferin and Centre streets when a vehicle crashed into the shelter they were standing in shortly after 8 p.m.

The child and a man were transported to hospital with what police are describing as minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and is currently in police custody.

Police believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
