An 11-year-old boy was re-united with his family and appeared unscathed after falling down a cliff and getting stuck on the Humber River embankment Thursday afternoon.

Toronto police said the boy had climbed over a fence on Scarlett Road between Braeburn Avenue and Riverview Heights around 1:20 p.m. An aerial view from the CP24 chopper showed two parallel chain link fences in close proximity to each other at the top of the steep cliff.

Toronto Fire was able to reach the boy using cables and harnesses. While one firefighter climbed up the cliff with the boy in his arms, other firefighters pulled them up from above using a cable. The climb was slow, and theystopped and stumbled at least once.

Shortly after 2 p.m., the boy was pulled over to safe ground. He walked through a hole in the fence toward a woman, believed to be his mother, and hugged her for several seconds.
