RICHMOND HILL, Ont. -- A Richmond Hill, Ont., man is facing multiple charges in connection with allegations that an HIV-positive man sexually assaulted a girl and infected her with the disease.

York Regional Police say they began an investigation in February following allegations that a man assaulted a female victim with a weapon and threatened to kill her at a home in Richmond Hill, north of Toronto.

Police say further investigation revealed that in October 2011, the accused, who was diagnosed as being HIV positive at the time, had knowingly engaged in unprotected sex with a minor and subsequently infected her.

Police did not give further details in order to protect the identity of the minor victim.

Roman Krouglov, 26, is facing charges of sexual interference, aggravated sexual assault, assault with a weapon, uttering death threats and assault.

Police say he was arrested without incident on Feb. 12 and is being held in custody with a court appearance scheduled for Thursday.

Investigators say they believe there may be more victims and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

They say the accused has been known to solicit sex through online classified ads requesting "casual encounters" using the email address romankrouglov(at)gmail.com.
