Durham Regional Police are searching for suspects after an elderly woman in a wheelchair and her husband were robbed while trying to sell kittens.

The Whitby couple, police say, came into contact with the suspects after posting an ad to sell kittens.

The couple permitted the prospective kitten buyers to enter their home near Coronation Road and Columbus Road West on the evening of July 7.

Once inside, police say the female suspect asked to use the washroom. Once she was out of sight, police say she stole a number of personal belongings, including jewelery, cash and a purse.

The female suspect is described as white, mid 30s with dark hair worn in a bun. She was last seen wearing a white tank top, dark dress pants and beige high-heel shoes. Police say the woman also had a tattoo of on her left forearm.

The male suspect is described as white, with a black, scruffy beard and numerous tattoos.
