GO train service on the Lakeshore West line was stalled while police investigate after a pedestrian was struck by a train on Saturday.

The incident occurred between the Port Credit and Clarkson stations, in the Queen Street and Shawnmarr Road area, around 3:45 p.m.

A short time later, Peel Paramedics said the person died on scene.

The train will not be released until the police are finished investigating, Metrolinx spokesperson Vanessa Barassa said. Passengers are also not allowed to disembark at this time.

Traffic and other trains in the area were also halted, she said.

The circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately clear.

Shuttle buses will begin running to shuttle passengers around the delay.  Regular train service resumed at about 5:50 p.m.
