Residents in the Greater Toronto Area are waking up to a scary sight post-Halloween: snow.

The GTA saw a light dusting overnight that left some cars with enough snow to warrant a brush, though it’s still too warm for the white stuff to stick to the ground.

The precipitation is expected to last into Saturday morning as a mix of wet snow and rain.

The city’s first snow sighting of the season comes as temperatures dip down, with a high of just 5 C expected Saturday and a low of 2 C expected Saturday night.

With winds of up to 50 kilometres per hour expected in Toronto today, it’s expected to be a chilly day in the city.

The rain and snow are expected to let up by this evening and clear skies are in the forecast for Sunday and Monday.

While the rain is expected to pick up again on Tuesday and last through Friday, the snow is not expected to return in the short term as warmer temperatures of between 4 C and 13 C are expected in the coming days.
