Toronto police are investigating reports of an exchange of gunfire behind a plaza near Jane Street and Finch Avenue shortly before noon.
Const. Jenifferjit Sidhu said police were called to Driftwood Avenue around 11:50 a.m.
Initial reports from the scene suggest that a man in a vehicle pulled out a handgun and multiple shots were heard as the vehicle left the parking lot, Sidhu said. She added that more than one firearm was seen and that the suspects ran in different directions.
There are no reports of injuries and Yorkwoods Public School was briefly under lockdown as a precaution.
