A male was rushed to hospital with a single gunshot wound after a shooting at an apartment building near the North Toronto neighbourhood of Downsview early Sunday morning.

In happened at a Toronto Community Housing building on Falstaff Avenue near Jane Street at around 5:30 a.m.

Paramedics initially said that the patient was taken to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries, however police say his condition has since improved and he is expected to survive.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately clear but police confirm the victim sustained a gunshot wound to the neck.

No arrests have been made and police have not released any information about possible suspects.

Meanwhile, several neighbours that live in the building told CP24 on Sunday morning that they did not hear any gunshots or commotion overnight.
