A man accused of forcing a teenaged girl into the sex trade and repeatedly assaulting her over a four-year period has been arrested with the assistance of British Columbia RCMP.

Toronto police had been looking for the 33-year-old man since he was arrested on drug-related charges during a traffic stop and released on a recognizance this past summer.

A subsequent search of the man’s car then turned up a loaded firearm concealed in a hidden compartment, but officers were unable to locate him.

Police previously said that the man forced a 19-year-old into prostitution in 2010 and lived off the avails up until July.

During that period, police allege that the man choked the woman to unconsciousness, kicked and threw her small dog and assaulted her with a lit cigarette and broke a drinking glass to slit her Achilles heel.

Andre Stubbs was arrested on Monday and charged with 27 offences, including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement and injuring an animal.

Police say Stubbs may have additional victims.
