A 21-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred in Wasaga Beach over the long weekend.

Eric Tello Arias was stabbed to death on Main Street at around 3:20 a.m. on May 23.

Additional details surrounding the incident have not been provided by police.

In a release Tuesday afternoon, provincial police announced that a suspect had been arrested in connection with the homicide.

The Wasaga Beach man, whose name was not provided by Ontario Provincial Police, is charged second-degree murder.

Arias was one of two Caledon men fatally stabbed in the town over the Victoria Day weekend.

Eighteen-year-old Francesco Molinaro was stabbed near a pizza shop at around 10:35 p.m. on May 21.

An update on that case has not been provided by police.

In the aftermath of the incidents, investigators said they were treating the incidents as separate.

“We’ve got two independent investigations,” OPP Const. Mark Kinney said last Monday afternoon.

“As it stands now, we’re not treating them as one in the same.”
