Police have ruled a man’s death a homicide after he was found with life-threatening injuries outside a home in northeast Toronto Thursday morning.

The 62-year-old man was rushed to hospital after emergency personnel were called to a home on Francine Drive, near Leslie Street and Steeles Avenue East, shortly before 9 a.m.

Police say the victim was taken to hospital with obvious signs of trauma where he was pronounced dead.

A post-mortem has yet to be scheduled.

The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Police have taped off the street and brought in a canine unit to search the neighbourhood for evidence.

The canine unit was seen walking along the street and in between houses during the search for potential suspects or evidence.

The scene is located near A.Y. Jackson Secondary School, which was briefly in a hold-and-secure situation as a precaution due to the police activity in the neighbourhood.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 416-808-7400 ext. 77422 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
