A 48-year-old man has been sentenced to six month in jail in connection with the threatening of a TTC bus driver and the robbery of a woman in early December.

According to the Toronto Transit Commission, a bus driver was threatened with death by a man following a fare dispute on Dec. 10.

The man was located by police a short time later and charged in connection with the incident. He was also charged in connection with the robbery of a woman two days earlier.

Wayne McLaren pleaded guilty to two charges stemming from both incidents. He was sentenced to six months in jail and two years’ probation, the TTC said.

On average, one TTC employee is assaulted every day, the transit agency said.
