Toronto police have released security camera images of a man wanted in connection with the theft of a dog from outside a grocery store earlier this week.

It happened in the Danforth and Woodbine avenues area Wednesday at around 5 p.m.

According to police, the dog was stolen after being left tied to a pole outside the store while the owner shopped.

The dog is a three-year-old purebred German Shepherd named Charlie. He was wearing a black muzzle, a blue collar without tags, and was on a brown leather leash when he was taken.

Police released images of a suspect Friday night.

He is described as white, with long grey hair tied back in a ponytail.

He was last seen wearing a green T-shirt with a large logo, a dark zip-up hoodie, and blue jeans. He was also carrying a black backpack, police said.
