Doug Ford said he isn’t sure when his brother will return from rehab but as far as he knows, the mayor still plans to run in the upcoming municipal election.

“He is the candidate for mayor,” Doug Ford told CP24 Tuesday.

“He is going to (leave rehab) when he feels 100 per cent.”

Coun. Ford said that his brother was on a supervised outing last week when he was spotted in the Musoka Region getting some dry cleaning done and posing for photos with members of the public.

"He is in a great facility and he is doing well," Ford said.

“Our priority is to make sure he is healthy. Politics comes second.”

Doug Ford said the mayor is even losing weight during his stay in rehab.

Despite his brother’s “serious issues with alcohol,” Coun. Ford said he believes the mayor can turn it around.

“People can move forward and give back to society,” he said.

“He has to move forward.”
