The missing mother of a Canadian Olympic gold medallist has been found safe and sound in Oakville.
Moira Patricia McKoy had been last seen in Peterborough as she tried to find her way to a ServiceOntario office to renew her driver’s licence Thursday evening.
McKoy is the mother of Mark McKoy, who won the gold medal in the 110-metre hurdles event at the Barcelona Games in 1992.
During an interview with CP24 on Friday, Mark McKoy said his mother got lost and drove almost 100 kilometres to Peterborough, where she was last seen Thursday at 5 p.m. when she stopped to ask a woman for directions back to Scarborough.
Mark McKoy said the woman called his sister to inform her that their mother was returning to the city.
Speaking with CP24, McKoy speculated that his mother may have got confused while driving after dark or ran out of gas.
“I think that’s where the confusion came in because she doesn’t like to drive at night," he said.
It is not known how Moira Patricia McKoy spent the last 22 hours.
