Peel police have charged nine people with attempted murder after a 52-year-old man was beaten inside his Brampton home last year.

Police say that Abdallah Butale was inside his residence on Sept. 26, 2015 when a group of assailants armed with golf clubs, hammers and knives forced their way inside.

At that point, police say that the suspects “savagely beat” Butale before fleeing the scene.

Butale was then airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Following an investigation by the 21 Division Criminal Violent Crime Reduction Team, nine suspects have been arrested.

Brayn Poobalasingham, 24, of Brampton, Brandon Poobalasingham, 21, of Brampton, Nivethan Alakeswaran, 19, of Brampton, Vitaliy Ricknauth, 21, of Brampton and five young offenders are each charged with one count of attempted murder.

Peel police say that the Toronto Police Service assisted with their investigation.
