Homicide investigators say a pregnant woman who fell to her death from an apartment tower in midtown Toronto Sunday afternoon was stabbed multiple times before she fell.

Precious Charbonneau, 33, and Robert Giblin, 43, were both found with obvious signs of trauma behind a building on Raglan Avenue, near Bathurst Street and St. Clair Avenue, at around 6 p.m. They were both pronounced dead on scene.

In a release issued Monday afternoon, investigators say they believe Charbonneau was nine weeks pregnant. According to police, the two were recently married.

“Investigators believe Robert Giblin was responsible for the homicide of Precious Charbonneau and are not pursuing any more suspects in this matter,” the release says.

According to the Department of National Defence, Giblin was a Canadian Forces sergeant who was posted to Dennison Armories with Joint Task Force Central. Prior to his most recent assignment Giblin served two tours in Afghanistan in 2005 and 2007.

“The loss of any soldier is a devastating to the military community and our thoughts and condolences go out to Sgt. Robert Giblin’s family and friends,” a spokesperson said in a statement provided to CTV News.

“As this death did not take place on DND property and is currently under investigation by the Toronto police, we cannot offer any further information.”

Police continue to interview witnesses.
