As university students across the GTA get ready to head to back to school – and by extension back-to-school parties – York Regional Police are drawing their attention to one more list of expenses they may have missed.

Plan on fondling school statues or rolling drunk through ‘the 5ive?’ You may need up to $5,000 per offence.

Throwing a ‘rager’ in an abandoned house? That’s $65 per party goer. Or how about tossing empties from dorm room windows? That’ll land you a fine of up to $5,000 as well.

Those costs and more are detailed on a list released by YRP Thursday as students head back to campuses.

“Frosh Week offers students a host of exciting new experiences. Unfortunately, some of those experiences might lead otherwise law-abiding students to make poor choices,” police said in the release.

“Researchers at YRP have compiled a highly academic list of unexpected expenses and potential pitfalls for prospective scholars.”

While fines on the list may vary by circumstances, police said the list is meant to inform students as to the potential consequences of breaking the law.

It further advises students to “party with caution.”
