Peel Regional Police say a young girl who was found wandering alone on a street in Brampton on Monday morning has been reunited with her mother.

The mother was located after police released a photo of the girl, who is about two or three years old. Tips poured in as the photo was shown on television and as it circulated on social media.

Police are investigating how the child wound up alone on the street.

Spokesman Const. George Tudos said a passing driver found the girl near the busy intersection of Bovaird Drive and Creditview Road.

The concerned motorist stopped and notified police.

Tudos said the girl was in good health.
