Police have identified the victim of a homicide in the Stockyards District last week as a 47-year-old Toronto man.

David Brenner was found dead by police at a home in the Davenport and Old Weston roads area at around 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 22.

Police said Brenner was severely beaten.

A suspect was identified by police on Saturday and arrested the following day in Halifax. Investigators with Toronto police will be escorting him back to Toronto.

Police have said the suspect and the victim were acquainted.

Anthony Brake, 46, of Toronto has been charged with second-degree murder. He is scheduled to make a court appearance in Toronto on Sept. 29.
