Police have identified a suspect wanted in connection with a stabbing near Weston last month.

At around 2:55 a.m. on Oct. 2, two groups of men were in the area of Jane Street and Lawrence Avenue West.

Investigators said a verbal confrontation broke out between the two groups and a man from one group stabbed a 35-year-old man from the other group.

The suspect, police said, has now been identified as 29-year-old Toronto resident Corey Stephens.

In a news release issued Thursday, police said Stephens is wanted for attempted murder, robbery with a weapon, assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and failing to comply with a recognizance.

Police have released a photograph of Stephens and ask anyone with information about the case to call investigators at 416-808-1200 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
