Police have released surveillance camera images of a man who allegedly stole two laptops from a Milton store and then punched an employee who attempted to stop him.

Police say the suspect entered a Staples store on Steeles Avenue East just before 1 p.m. on Thursday and asked a sales associate to bring him two Apple Mac Air laptops.

When that employee then brought the laptops out and began processing the transaction at the cash register, police say the suspect grabbed the merchandise and headed for the exit.

At that point, police say the employee chased after the suspect. That’s when it is alleged that the suspect punched the employee in the face, causing them to sustain minor injuries. Police say the suspect then ran into an awaiting vehicle on James Snow Parkway.

The suspect is described as a white male, who was last seen wearing a navy blue Adidas fisherman style hat, a black jacket, dark blue jeans and black shoes.

The vehicle, meanwhile, is described as a white, newer model Mercedes. It was last seen travelling on westbound Hwy. 401 at a high rate of speed.
