A 24-year-old woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after she was robbed of her purse and stabbed in what police are calling a "random attack."

The woman was walking through Benner Park near Eglinton Avenue and Allen Road at around 10:35 p.m. on Thursday when the men approached from behind and stabbed her before fleeing the scene with her purse.

The woman required emergency surgery, but is in stable condition.

Police say they are looking for two black male suspects, who are believed to be between 16 and 25-years-old. They were last seen wearing dark-coloured clothing.

The woman did not know her attackers, police say.
