Some residents living in the city’s east end could be in for a sticky and sweaty night.

Approximately 6,000 customers are currently without power in the area bounded by Danforth Avenue to Queen Street East, and Main Street to Victoria Park Avenue after a contractor working in the area damaged some equipment while digging Tuesday afternoon, Toronto Hydro said.

Crews are currently working to fix the problem, however Toronto Hydro said they estimate the issue will not be resolved until around 7 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The utility is asking customers to avoiding opening fridges and freezers to help keep food items from spoiling.
