Paramedics say three people are in hospital after a three-alarm fire at a home in Brockton Village.

The fire broke out at around 5:30 a.m. at a home on College Street, near Lansdowne Avenue.

At the height of the fire, 18 fire trucks and 75 firefighters were on scene. The blaze was knocked down at around 6 a.m., Toronto Fire Services Capt. Mike Strapko said.

Police say those taken to hospital following the fire suffered smoke inhalation. Their injuries are considered to be minor.

Strapko said it is possible that the fire started on the second floor of the home, however the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

He could not say whether the fire is considered to be suspicious.

Due to the type of insulation in the home, Strapko said crews will likely be on scene for an extended period of time.

College Street was closed in the area, affecting some TTC routes, however the area has reopened to traffic.
