A TTC operator, who sometimes goes by the name by ‘Bus Driver Al,’ is facing a string of charges after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl that he befriended on social media and arranged to meet on a streetcar.
The man first made contact with the victim on social media in November.
Police say the man then met the girl for the first time on a streetcar that he was operating in July.
After that initial meeting, police say the man sexually assaulted the girl on three separate occasions, with all of the alleged offences occurring on a TTC streetcar.
Allan Hrynkiw, 39, of Oshawa, was arrested on Thursday and charged with three counts of sexual assault, three counts of sexual interference and three counts of luring a child.
According to a statement issued by the TTC, Hrynkiw has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the criminal case against him.
“The TTC has a long and proud history of community and public safety with its 14,000 employees deeply committed to the well-being of all who rely on us,” the statement reads. “Given this very serious issue is now before the courts, the TTC will offer no further comment.”
Police say they believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.
