A suspect injured when a police pursuit ended in a two-vehicle crash at a Brampton intersection on Tuesday morning now faces a number of charges in connection with the incident, Ontario Provincial Police say.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Dixie Road and Clark Boulevard at about 7:40 a.m.
According to police, an OPP officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Honda Accord on Highway 401 near Islington Avenue at around 7:25 a.m.
OPP officers pursued the vehicle northbound along Highway 410 before it headed east on the Williams Parkway and then south on Dixie Road, where it was involved in a crash with a civilian vehicle.
A woman and her son travelling in the civilian vehicle were not injured in the crash.
During the pursuit, the vehicle also made contact with a police vehicle, police say.
Two males were taken into custody at the scene.
The driver of the suspect vehicle was taken to hospital with minor injuries. He has since been released.
As a result of the investigation, the driver of the Honda Accord, a 20-year-old man from Brampton, has been charged with dangerous driving, assault with intent to resist arrest, assault on a peace officer and flight from a police officer.
The man’s name has not been released.
The second male has been released.
