York Regional Police have issued a warning to sex trade workers to be on the lookout for a suspect sought for manslaughter in connection with the disappearance of a Markham woman earlier this summer.

Ying Chun (Annie) Li, 36, was last seen by family members on June 12 in the Denison Street and Markham Road area.

Through the course of their investigation, police now believe she is dead.

Earlier this month, a Canada-wide arrest warrant was issued for a suspect wanted in connection with the investigation.

In a release Wednesday night, police said that they believe the identified suspect has recently attempted to seek the services of women working in the sex trade.

“Police believe that he poses a significant threat to these women and we are warning anyone who encounters him in person or online to use caution and contact police immediately,” police said.

Jiarui (Jerry) Tang, 21, of Toronto, is wanted for manslaughter.

“Investigators believe that Mr. Tang frequents the Chintown area of Toronto,” police said.

Investigators believe he is still in the area.

“Mr. Tang is urged to seek legal counsel and turn himself in immediately,” police said.

If spotted, he should not be approached by members of the public, police cautioned.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 866-876-5423 ext. 7865 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
