A woman has died after being struck by a vehicle in Leaside Thursday evening, Toronto police have confirmed.

It happened in the Eglinton Avenue and Hanna Road area shortly after 7 p.m.

The circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately known.

The woman, believed to be in her 60s, was rushed to hospital without vital signs, paramedics said.

Toronto police Const. Clint Stibbe confirmed that the woman had died in tweet shortly before 8:30 p.m.

Road closures are expected in the area, police said.

According to paramedics, five pedestrian collisions have been reported since around 7 p.m.

“It’s been a rainy day and we’ve had many calls for collisions with many people hurt,” police said in a tweet at around 7:30 p.m.

“Be careful going home.”
