Police divers testing out imaging equipment were quite surprised to find two vehicles nested at the bottom of Lake Ontario.

At least one of the vehicles pulled from the lake at the foot of Sugar Beach in Toronto Tuesday was reported stolen, according to police investigators at the scene.

A police report was never filed for the second vehicle.  A small motor boat was also discovered in the water though police say they have yet to retrieve the craft.

Officers told reporters at the scene they believe the vehicles – a Mercedes and a Ford Contour - had been in the water for about five years.

The cars were visibly damaged and covered with a thick coat of mud. Live fish fell from the vehicles as they were pulled from the water in front of a small crowd of onlookers.

Police said though they discovered the cars and boat in the lake on Monday, they didn’t have the appropriate equipment at the time to pull the wreckage from the water.

Detectives carefully combed the vehicles to make sure there were no weapons or other suspicious matter inside them. The vehicles will be cleaned before being brought in for further testing by detectives.
