As the U.S. bailout package heads for the Senate's approval, the plan to help the Canadian sector appears to be picking up speed.

Sources have confirmed to The Canadian Press that Chrysler, Ford and GM want a total of $6.8 billion dollars in loans and credit lines from Ottawa and Ontario.
