A man has been rushed to hospital with serious injures after a TTC streetcar collided with a vehicle on St. Clair Avenue.

The collision happened just after 3 p.m. on Sunday as paramedics and firefighters spent nearly an hour trying to free the man from the wreckage of the car. Police say it appears the car was struck when it crossed in front of the streetcar, and was dragged about 30 metres down the street.

The man was rushed to a downtown trauma centre. No one was reported to be injured on the streetcar.

Streetcar service has been halted on St. Clair Avenue West between Bathurst and Dufferin Streets.
