Police are putting out a call for tips in the search for a Toronto woman who hasn't been seen for a week.

On Tuesday, 22-year-old Elizabeth Chirwa's family also issued its own plea for help.

Chirwa was last seen in the Graydon Hall Drive area last Tuesday. Graydon Hall Drive is southwest of Highway 401's intersection with the Don Valley Parkway.

She stands five foot three inches tall, weighs 141 pounds and has straight black hair.

Her family hasn't heard from her and police are growing increasingly concerned for her safety. Police say they don't suspect foul play in her disappearance.

Chirwa's uncle, Thomas Mapunda, says he hasn't slept since she disappeared, adding it is very unlike her to go somewhere without alerting the family.

"It's not Elizabeth's way to go outside and never come back," he told members of the media assembled at a news conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Mapunda says Chirwa may be developmentally challenged and requires medication.
