A minor accident along Highway 401 Saturday night turned into a traffic nightmare after a vehicle rammed into a parked ambulance and police cruiser.

The accident occurred on the collector lanes at Weston Road just before midnight. Emergency crews were responding to a passenger who had minor injuries after a two-car collision earlier in the evening when a third vehicle drove by and sideswiped the ambulance.

The car also hit an unoccupied Ontario Provincial Police cruiser.

None of the occupants of the ambulance or the third vehicle were injured, police said in a news release Sunday.

Police say they don't believe alcohol played a role in the crash.
