TORONTO - It's a meaty monster that can make even the bravest fast-food fanatic turn chicken.

KFC will debut its Double Down in Canada tomorrow.

But health experts are hoping Canadians will think twice before trying the bunless concoction.

The sandwich is two slabs of seasoned fried chicken sandwiching bacon, cheese and a secret sauce.

It has 540 calories, 30 grams of fat and 1,700 milligrams of sodium.

Nutrition experts say that's an alarmingly high level of salt, and more than half the average person's daily fat intake.

That means pounding back a Double Down leaves little room to eat anything else.

Even KFC doesn't recommend having the sandwich too often.

Dan Howe, chief marketing officer for Yum! Restaurants Canada, which operates KFC, says the sandwich is a quote -- "occasional, indulgent" eat.
