CALGARY - The roster for the Canadian Olympic women's hockey team is closer to being finalized.
Forward Brianne Jenner of Oakville, Ont., and defenceman Jocelyne Larocque of Ste. Anne, Man., have been released from the team's centralized roster, reducing the number of eligible players to 24.
"We thank Brianne and Jocelyne for their hard work and dedication to the national women's program," coach Melody Davidson said in a release. "It has been an absolute pleasure working with these players."
Canada will take 21 players -- including three goalies -- to the Games in Vancouver.
Twenty-six players auditioning for spots on the Olympic team have been centralized in Calgary since Aug. 2. Hockey Canada is expected to unveil the final roster by the end of December.
Canada has won gold at the past two Olympics.
