Cadillac Fairview issued the following statement Saturday night in response to the fatal shooting at the Eaton Centre:
"We can confirm that at approximately 6:20 p.m., a patron opened fire in the Toronto Eaton Centre North food court. Toronto Police Services were immediately notified and are currently onsite conducting a thorough investigation regarding this unfortunate tragedy. The mall is closed to all patrons and mall employees until further notice.
Our primary concern is to ensure the safety of our customers, tenants and staff and our Management Team is cooperating fully with the TPS investigation. We view this matter with the utmost seriousness and we encourage both our tenants and customers notify police if they have any information. Given that this matter is now under investigation we cannot provide further information, all questions should be directed at TPS.
Our thoughts are with the victims and their families during this difficult time."
