TORONTO - Mike Connolly scored 21 seconds into overtime to give the Lake Erie Monsters a 3-2 win over the Toronto Marlies in an American Hockey League matinee on Wednesday.

Connolly led a rush up the left side and switched to his backhand to tuck the puck past goaltender Mark Owuya for his eighth goal of the season.

Jerry D'Amigo and Sam Carrick scored for the Marlies. Andrew Agozzino and Thomas Pock had the other goals for the Monsters.

Lake Erie's first two goals came on the power play while the Marlies were unable to take advantage of their two power-play opportunities. Mark Owuya made 25 saves for Toronto (38-21-9) while Sami Aittokallio made 35 saves for Lake Erie (30-30-10).

Agozzino staked the Monsters to a first-period lead when he got his 18th of the season at 13:16. He set up a nice screen in front of Owuya and was able to deflect Markus Lauridsen's shot from the point.

D'Amigo tied it midway through the second period by taking advantage of an error by Aittokallio to score his 16th of the season. Aittokallio only got part of his stick on a pokecheck attempt and D'Amigo picked up the loose puck and lifted it over the helpless Lake Erie goalie to tie the game.
