City councillors spent taxpayer dollars on everything from a Barbie doll to office renovations, expense reports show.

A report from the Toronto Sun reveals the variety of things councillors expensed.

Coun. Shelly Carroll spend $7,100 on renovating her city hall office. Coun. Cesar Palacio, meanwhile, spent $5,700 on compost.

Coun. Ron Moeser spent the most – using up all but a few hundred dollars from his $50,445 annual office budget.

Moeser tells the Sun that much of that went to cover rent payments for his constituency office.

This year, their budgets have been reduced to $30,000.

Mayor Rob Ford spent none of his office budget as councillor, spending about $131 out of his own pocket to cover expenses.
