Two men are being treated for injuries after a car and a streetcar collided near St. Clair Avenue and Christie Street on Monday.

Police said the streetcar was westbound on St. Clair Avenue and the vehicle was in the middle of the intersection when "some sort of collision took place" shortly after 8:20 a.m.

The car then struck a streetcar shelter.

One of the men was transported to a trauma centre, while the second man was taken to a local hospital. The nature of their injuries was unclear.

The 512 St. Clair streetcars have returned to normal service.
