Toronto is cleaning up after a heavy downpour flooded many parts of the city.

Reports say basements in homes near Kew Beach are flooding and people were wading through calf-deep water. Some cars on other streets in the neighbourhood were partially submerged.

Both westbound and eastbound lanes of Lake Shore Boulevard were completely underwater and were closed until they drained.

At least one of the city's temporary dump sites at Campbell Park near Dupont Street and Lansdowne Avenue also flooded. City councillor Adam Giambrone says the water is being pumped.

The Toronto Region Conservation Authority issued a high water warning for the city's rivers, ponds and streams. Make sure to keep children and pets away from the water.

Pearson airport recorded a total of 1.4 centimetres of rain. We can expect another 1.5 centimetres Sunday.
