TORONTO - At least one driver in the Gumball 3000 Rally should have chewed on the Ontario Provincial Police's warnings about speeding for a while longer.

The drivers are in Ontario briefly while trying to get from London, England to New York in seven days.

But the police have added patrols on the ground and in the air to keep tabs on the drivers while they flash through.

The driver of a 2009 Dodge Charger from California was stopped on Highway 401 (in the Marysville area) for going 140 kilometres an hour, given a ticket and cautioned about speeding.

About two hours later (in the Brighton area) the driver was stopped again -- for going over 170 kilometres an hour in a 100 zone.

This time police charged him with stunt driving, seized his licence for seven days and impounded the Charger.
