TORONTO - A Canadian documentary about pianist Glenn Gould has been shortlisted for an Academy Award.
"Genius Within: The Inner Life of Glenn Gould" is competing in the category of best long form documentary.
The film aired on Bravo! earlier this year and recently won a Gemini Award for best biography documentary program.
"Genius Within" is one of 15 documentaries that move onto the second round of voting that will determine the final nominees.
Nominations for the 83rd Academy Awards will be announced Jan. 25.
"Genius Within," from filmmakers Peter Raymont and Michele Hozer, includes never-before seen footage of Gould, photographs, and excerpts from his private home recordings and diaries.
