Homicide detectives with York Regional Police are investigating after a man died in Richmond Hill late Tuesday night.

Police officers went to Levendale Road, near Yonge Street and Elgin Mills Road, when they received a 911 call about a disturbance in a basement apartment suite Tuesday at about 11:15 p.m.

Officers found a badly-injured man behind the apartment. The 47-year-old man died at the scene.

There are unconfirmed reports the man was stabbed during a fight that began in the apartment suite, which is below a hair salon in a strip mall.

While police were questioning witnesses, a person approached officers and told them a potential suspect was in a bar nearby. Officers arrested a person in the bar, while several potential witnesses were taken to a police station to be interviewed by detectives.

Charges haven't been laid.

The victim's name has not been released.
