Fire officials are investigating the cause of a large house fire that broke out in Mississauga on Tuesday morning.

The two-alarm blaze in the 2100 block of Shawanaga Trail, near Mississauga Road and the QEW, was reported at about 6:45 a.m.

Mississauga Fire says a large house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at the scene.

Crews immediately went into an offensive attack and were able to bring the blaze under control shortly before 8 a.m.

They remained at the scene for some time to extinguish hot spots that continued to smoulder.

The occupants escaped the burning home, Peel Regional Police say.

No injuries have been reported.

As part of the investigation, officials will calculate a damage estimate.
