An 18-year-old man is in hospital in critical condition after a hit-and-run crash in Pickering early Tuesday morning.
Durham Regional Police said man was hailing a cab when he was hit by a northbound vehicle on Liverpool Road South, near Wharf Street, shortly after 3 a.m.
The man was walking with a friend and stepped off the curb to hail the taxi, police said.
Paramedics rushed the victim to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, where he is receiving medical care for life-threatening injuries.
The vehicle took off after the collision and hasn't been located.
Investigators are seeking tips to locate the vehicle and its driver.
