A 43-year-old woman is dead after she was stabbed at a home on Longford Drive in Mississauga on Tuesday afternoon.
Peel Regional Police officers responded to a home when they received a 911 call about a physical altercation at about 1:35 p.m.
When police arrived, they encountered a knife-wielding man and found the woman with life-threatening injuries and obvious signs of trauma to her body.
Officers Tasered the man to disarm and bring him into custody.
The woman was rushed to a hospital, where she died of her injuries.
She is Peel Region's third homicide victim of 2011. An autopsy is scheduled to confirm the cause of death.
Police say a 46-year-old man was arrested at the scene. Charges are pending.
The relationship between the victim and suspect wasn't disclosed, but police say the pair is known to each other.
Homicide detectives continue to investigate.
