A Brampton man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with an ongoing investigation in Mississauga.

Peel police say an altercation broke out between two individuals in the early morning hours of Aug. 19, near the intersection of Tomken and Derry roads. During the altercation, it is alleged that the accused discharged a firearm, striking the victim in the chest.

The victim’s injuries were later deemed non-life-threatening in hospital.

In partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police and the Thunder Bay Police Service, Peel police have located and arrested the suspect. Gurarpan Aulakh, 23, of Brampton, is facing a long list of charges, including attempted murder with a firearm, uttering death threats, assault with a weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.

Aulakh was held for a bail hearing.
